Get Ready to Warm Up and Wind Down at Loews Minneapolis Hotel: A Couple’s Weekend Getaway

Are you looking for a couple’s weekend getaway?  In your day to day busy-ness there is much to desire with time away from everything and everyone.  Yes that includes the kids as well. We were fortunate to be able to get away for a few days of just the two of us to reconnect and re-shift the focus to us.

We were extremely excited to have been invited to experience Loews Minneapolis Hotel.  Minneapolis is one of the best cities for a night out on the town or a weekend getaway.  There is so much to do here you will not be disappointed.  Everything from arts, theater, culture, music to food, Minneapolis has it all.  At least a few times a year, we like to do a weekend stay-cation right in downtown Minneapolis!

Loews Minneapolis Hotel is located on First Avenue and directly across the street to the Target Center. In the heart of Minneapolis’s vibrant downtown Warehouse and Entertainment District, you will be surrounded by amazing restaurants, bars, shopping, nightlife, theater, clubs and the ballpark, – Target Field.

Getting to the hotel is a breeze. We were greeted by the parking attendant and left our car with him. We then proceeded to the lobby to check in.

I was mesmerized by the decor of hotel. So beautiful, welcoming and cozy. The place to get in from out of the cold! Once we checked in, we were shown to our room.

Our home for the next couple of nights:  The Executive Corner Room.

Awaiting to welcome us in our room was from The Herbivorous Butcher which consisted of local dairy-free cheese, vegan charcuterie, pickled vegetables, spiced nuts and fruit preserves along with a lovely note.   It is exquisite! I was pretty excited to have tried the pickled mushroom. Heavenly!!

Did I say we were on the 20th floor? This view is just breathtaking!  I can just stare at this all night!

After we got settled in, enjoyed the view and the snack, we went downstairs to the fourth floor for dinner at the Cosmos.  We had already checked out the menu prior to our arrival with an idea of what we wanted to try.  However, once we were seated and our waitress provided us with the specials, we opted for the special for the evening:  The Seasonal Prix Fixe which was the 3-course meal.

Vang opted for the Apple and Root Vegetable Soup, Beef Tenderloin and the Butter Pecan Sundae. I opted for the same soup for first, Seared Salmon and the Butter Pecan Sundae.

Let me tell you that this did not disappoint!  It was all so delicious and the service was more than superb.  That soup was the perfect way to start and warm us up. We did not opt for any wine for dinner as we were planning to head down to the Apothecary  Bar and Lounge on the first floor to try their Baby It’s Cold Outside cocktail.

Breakfast at the Cosmos was exceptionally delicious.  We had the option for the Weekend Breakfast Buffet or order off the menu.

We opted for the Buffet and the selections available was delicious.  Included in the buffet is the 3 egg omelette.  I decided on bacon, peppers and asparagus for my omelette while Vang chose to substitute that to the classic over easy eggs.  He loved his eggs over easy and had commented on how good they were “This is how over easy eggs should be!”   Very well done!

We enjoyed our stay at Loews Minneapolis Hotel!  We had nothing but great things to say from the time we arrived at the valet parking, to checking in to all our interactions at the restaurant and bar.  The room was extremely cozy and the bed was just perfect.

One of the hardest things about staying away from home is getting a good night’s sleep. We were so pleased with how comfortable the bed was. We definitely had a couple of good nights sleep here.

  1. The hotel looks beautiful, and I love the view. My husband and I love staying places where we can just relax in the hotel together in the evening, enjoying the view and putting our feet up… Especially if it’s just a weekend getaway in the middle of a busy work month! We’ll have to add this place to our list for the future.

  2. Minneapolis does have many things to offer. I really liked the Mill City Museum when I was there, and Surly Brewing was an excellent place for beer, food, and entertainment. Just don’t go in the middle of winter!

    1. Glad you had a great time visiting Minneapolis! We are definitely experiencing the cold now… But want can I say… Love it here even in the winter 🙂

  3. This looks like such a beautiful place to stay. All the Loews look quite spectacular and this is no exception. We’ve never stayed in one but we definitely hope to in the future. Thanks for sharing!

  4. One day I will get here – my best friend is originally from Minnesota so she keeps trying to get me to go with her someday.

  5. Love this idea for a romantic get-away! The Baby It’s Cold Outside beverage sounds like a lovely way to warm up. I appreciated the pictures so I could get a good idea of food quality!
