Mystery Blogger Award

To say I am super excited to be nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award by not one but two fellow bloggers is a definite understatement! What an amazing honor to be acknowledged of my work in my little corner on the world wide web! Thanks to both Sandra Joseph and Kimberley Bryant!

Sandra Joseph at Poof…Bee Gone blogs about her solo travels. She is so inspiring with all her solo escapades making me want to do some solo runs too. (Shhh.. don’t tell the husband or the kids ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Kimberley Bryant at Kimberley Writes was created as her creative outlet to share with the world her thoughts, experiences, and fictional stories inspiring others to be their better self.

Questions from Poof…Be Gone

What is the best tip you learned as a blogger?

Just keep on going… Even if it feels like you are not getting anything in return yet, keep on going and the rewards will be there.  It is not an overnight success or a get rich scheme.  It takes hard work and perseverance.

Who inspires you and why?

My parents will always be my number one inspiration! They are the epitome of strength and resilience. We are refugees of war and many many times, we hear stories of what my parents went through to bring us all to safety and eventually immigrated to the United States. With 9 children in tow, they not only brought us all to safety but struggled to make ends meet raising us in the United States, a place so foreign to them. I have never heard my parents complained once about anything. We were so poor yet our parents gave us so much. Not in material things but values they instilled in us to this day. Give and give with an open heart ๐Ÿ™‚

Name one of your best character traits and expound/brag on yourself a little.

I am going to piggyback on what I just said above. I have a huge heart and I give openly and never expecting anything in return. What my parents taught us from an early age, I am so happy and proud to be the person I am today. (I am bragging on my parents here not me)

Would you rather go back in time to change something or fast forward to the future to make something happen? (My best attempt at a weird question)

This one is super easy for me now. It didn’t use to be the case a few years back though. I would not wish on anything other than living presently in the moment. I can’t go back and change something. It would not make me who I am today. I would not wish to go in the future to make something happen as I would want to work at it to make it happen.

Who haven’t you spoken to in a while that you need to call?

I haven’t spoken to my sister in a while… Thanks for reminding me!

Questions from Kimberley Writes

Why did you decide to start a blog?

I started my blog as a way to document our family life, adventures, and travels.  I have always loved writing but not in the sense of APA style for all those lovely college papers.  I really do not miss those days ๐Ÿ™‚. I really wanted to get back into it.  Life has been hectic and in recent years, I feel that it has slowed down a bit for me to be able to start on this new adventure.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

It’s hard. I feel like I have hit a writer’s block for a while. However, I was listening to a podcast the other day and the host gave a great tip. I honestly cannot remember which podcast it was as I listen to so many of them during my workday. But he was coaching one of his students who has hit writer’s block and asked if he has any bad writing. His student said no. The host then proceeded to say it’s because he stopped writing when he gets to that block. He advised his student to keep on writing as with any bad writing will come good writing. That is one I will start doing. Just keep on writing!

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

Strive for progress not perfection

If your life story became a movie which actor/actress would you want to play you and why?

Ooh, I think I will have to go with Sandrah Oh. She is such an amazing actress and can portray all my trials and tribulations with tears, humor, and strength.

What’s your idea for the next greatest invention (weird question)?

I love to bake (when I have the time) and I recently made a 2 tier Woodland Theme baby shower cake for my niece. It was my first time using fondant to cover the cake as well as making figures. It took so much time and if there was something to magically flatten the fondant and cover the cake, that would be it. Maybe there is already something like that. Fondant newbie here.

But then again, that just totally contradicted what I said about going back in time to change something or fast-forwarding to the future to get something. I was pretty proud of myself for making that cake. My niece was pretty happy as well!
